Thomas Schlereth

Photography represents a very subjective way of looking at the world, but the result consists of more than just one image. While the unremarkable often finds itself the object of contemplation in my work, I seek to direct the gaze and mind beyond the evident – to discover not only the beauty or the extraordinary in everyday life, but to also glimpse behind it, to see things not only for what they are but for what they could be. To achieve this, I work in a documentary or interpretative way, with my photographs reflecting true nature or the abstract, appear in colour or black and white, editing the picture during or after it has been taken.
