Shadows on the Wall
By depicting the image of a tree, its shadow, the object is abstracted, so to speak, and dematerialized to a certain extent. At the same time, the tree is placed in a new context by the choice of background on which the shadow falls. Different materials give the shadow room to unfold, disturb it and the view, or dominate the shadow through its own structure. In addition to the aesthetic aspect of the indirect depiction of a tree, the view is subtly directed to the support, disruption or even destruction of nature by man-made things.
